Invisalign
Braces are a big deal, and most people need them at some point in their lives. The American Association of Orthodontics estimates that four million Americans wear braces at any given time. But braces also significantly change a patient’s appearance while wearing them. Care and maintenance of braces can also be time-consuming and difficult.
That’s why Dr. Luong is pleased to offer Invisalign® to his patients. Invisalign® aligners are a simple, effective alternative to braces that offer many of the same benefits.
How Do You Get Invisalign®?
The first step is a consultation with your dentist. Though Invisalign® can correct a wide range of mis-alignments, braces are a more effective option in certain cases.
If we determine Invisalign® is a good option for you, we take custom impressions, x-rays and photographic images of your teeth. Invisalign® uses these impressions and pictures to create a 3-D image of them, which your dentist and Invisalign® use to map out a precise progress plan. This plan is used to create a completely custom set of liners, changed every two weeks. Treatment typically takes between 6 to 24 months.
During your treatment, you’ll have regular check-ins with your dentist. Other than that, you just wear your liners 20-22 hours per day. The rest of your life proceeds normally, and in a year or so your smile will be even better!

What is Invisalign®?
Conventional braces use a mixture of metal and rubber to gently push teeth into place. Invisalign works on the same core principle, but instead uses a clear, plastic liner that slips over your teeth. Over time, these liners shift teeth into place. Liners are custom-made for every patient, and are replaced at designated intervals.
Invisalign® has a number of advantages over traditional braces. Obviously, their clear plastic construction is much less conspicuous. But they also allow for normal brushing and flossing, can be removed any time, and have no food restrictions.

Is It Covered by Insurance?
Yes! Most dental insurance covers at least a portion of Invisalign® treatment. Because each patient receives their own customized aligners, the cost can vary significantly. Staff members at PItman Dental will discuss the costs of your treatment before it begins, to ensure you have the knowledge you need to make this life-improving decision.
